Why do I see a difference in data between Shopify Analytics and WorkMagic Analytics?
Updated over a week ago

Depending on the type of differences observed, the origin may be related to discrepancies in tracking implementation or due to differences in attribution methdologies.

If you notice a discrepancy in orders and sales data between Shopify Analytics and WorkMagic, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot where this difference might come from.

  1. Check your tracking implementation to ensure proper tracking.

If your total orders in WorkMagic don't match your total sales in Shopify, this may be the primary issue.

    Solution:

To check this, please go to the Channel Insights dashboard. You should see the number of events WorkMagic tracks displayed in the dashboard. If this doesn't match the number of orders you are seeing, then you need to doublecheck your implementation (ex: time range, attribution model, event/source).

Check to make sure the event date in WorkMagic correctly matches the time frame in your Shopify orders page.

  2. Differences in attribution-based methodologies.

If total orders is accurate, but orders by marketing channels is different, this is due to a difference in attribution methodologies.

    Solution:

WorkMagic uses a proprietary attribution methodology which can lead to different counts per channel. If you suspect your WorkMagic attribution isn't accurate, please contact us.
